Prime Minister Harper has 60 % approval rating !
I am one of the sixty per cent of Canadians who have a high regard and respect for Canada's Prime Minister. Prime Minister Harper in my opinion is truly a great Leader for our country.

I guess there must be some kind of time line between the poll showing Harper at 60% and the one showing the Liberal and Conservative being close to even.
Canada is of very mixed view on the Middle East....and is , at best lightly supportive of Afghanistan and the commitment of troops to same.
Afghanistan is an opportunity to show the Arab world....that there is value in a secular society....where trade with the Western World is the future.......As of this moment...it would be hard to make this case...as the country's infrastructure is almost non existant...so the people suffer,,,,daily.
At the same time, the church of the region does NOT want a secular state....and sees the West as a threat to their status......Poverty, hate, envy, and the church make it dificult to counter.....when no progress has been made ....vis vis standard of life for the every day people.
Couple that with an occupying force....who is not sympathetic to the culture of the region....makes it even more dificult.
Put that together with the invasion of Iraq....and we are even further away from finding much of a solution.
The locals view the new government as a puppet govt of USA....and there is too much evidence on that side of the arguement to overcome, at least at present.
