Ben Stein of the American Spectator asks - Is Israel's response"disproportionate." ?

The Japanese bombed exactly zero U.S. cities except for a few stray bombs on Honolulu. The U.S. firebombed every city we could find and used the atom bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Was this disproportionate? No, because the Japanese had started a world war and caused unspeakable suffering through Asia and the Pacific.

by using 'the bomb' against the japanese and forcing their empire to surrender, the U.S. saved countless more millions of lives than they took. those millions would have been forced to fight against the states and her allies if the states hadn't forced their surrender. sometime disproportionate force may look bad but in the end it may save more lives than could be lost otherwise.

I find it somewhat thought provoking that 'the bomb' has been deployed by USA....and lots of rationalization for doing so has followed.
Using the same rationalization...why wouldn't the Arab World drop 'the bomb' on Israel....thus saving millions of Arab lives.....
See my point??? I am not for a second suggesting this should happen....to Israel......or any other country.....but saying it is OK for USA to deploy these weapons of mass destruction....and then say no other country should do so...smacks of hypocracy
